Gold Coasters are being urged to keep an umbrella handy, with warnings the Coast could be hit by a severe thunderstorm later today.
The Bureau of Meteorology says severe storms are possible in the Darling Downs and Granite Belt, South Burnett and South East Coast, including Brisbane and the Gold Coast in the evening.
They may pose the risk of heavy rain, flash flooding, damaging winds and even large hail.
“A trough combining with a humid atmosphere is triggering thunderstorms today,” BOM said.
There’s a chance the city could see around 7mm of rainfall today, with another 9mm tomorrow, however, that could be higher depending on where the storms hit.
Areas further west have already seen over 40mm fall in just half an hour this morning.
