Police have charged a third man with kidnapping, sexual assault and extortion over an alleged terrifying ordeal on the Gold Coast earlier this year.
Two men were allegedly set upon by a group of masked men in the carpark of a Southport apartment complex on Wednesday, January 18.
The 24-year-old South Australian man and 22-year-old Southport man were then allegedly assaulted by the armed men before being forced into 24-year-old’s 2020 Mercedes Benz C63.
The 24-year-old managed to escape and witnesses contacted the police.
The 22-year-old was driven to a location where he was allegedly put through a horrific ordeal, including being tied to a chair, assaulted and threatened with a gun.
He was then dumped at a Brisbane location before the group fled.
He used a ride-share app to return to the Southport unit block around 11.30pm, where officers located him with injuries to his face and wrists.
Both victims were taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
Following investigations, police executed a search warrant at a Marsden property yesterday, arresting a 21-year-old Marsden man.
He has been charged with one count each of armed robbery, assault occasioning bodily harm, kidnapping, attempted kidnapping, deprivation of liberty, sexual assault, extortion and contravene requirement.
He is scheduled to appear at the Southport Magistrates Court today.
His arrest follows the arrest of a 20-year-old Darra man on Friday, March 17, and a 23-year-old Paradise Point man on Tuesday, March 21.
