An 18-year-old man has been charged after allegedly running a red light and fatally hitting a pedestrian in Brisbane.
It’s alleged the teen was behind the wheel of a white Volkswagen Golf when he ran the red at around 11.20pm on Mains Road near Turton Street at Sunnybank.
A 25-year-old local man was struck and suffered critical injuries.
He was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.
The 18-year-old Calamvale man was taken into custody at the scene and has been charged with one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death.
His bail has been refused and he is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday April 3.
It will be alleged the vehicle had left a car gathering at a shopping centre carpark at the intersection of Mains Road and McCullough Street.
Anyone who attended this location who has information or relevant footage of the white Volkswagen Golf is asked to contact police.
Police also appeal for any witnesses to the crash, or anyone with dashcam footage in the area at the time, to come forward.
