LATEST | A man and woman will front court today on close to 20 offences following a terrifying home invasion on the Gold Coast that saw a luxury car stolen and a resident injured.

Police say three people armed with a knife and firearm broke into the home on North Bank Court in Helensvale around 6am on Tuesday.

The group stole the keys to a white 2015 Maserati Ghiblibut, but were disturbed by the 51-year-old male resident before a scuffle broke out and the resident was assaulted.

The man and woman fled in the Maserati while a third person escaped in a white Mercedes.

Another car, a mauve 2017 mauve Porshe Cayenne, that was parked in the driveway of the Helensvale property was also allegedly damaged by the group.

Police tracked the Maserati from the Gold Coast to Logan using PolAir, where it was eventually located in Trinity Way at Drewvale around 12.15pm.

A 27-year-old Logan man was taken into custody at the scene and has since been charged with 12 offences, including three counts of unlawful use of motor vehicle, two counts each of enter dwelling with intent and armed robbery.

He’s also been slapped with one count each of wilful damage, unlawful possession of weapons, enter premises and commit indictable offence, dangerous conduct with weapon and dangerous operation of a vehicle.

An 18-year-old South Toowoomba woman was taken into custody in Beenleigh a short time later.

She’s now been charged with seven offences, including two counts each of enter dwelling with intent and armed robbery, and one count each of enter premises and commit indictable offence, unlawful possession of weapons and unlawful use of motor vehicle

Police are still working to identify and track down a third man involved.

He was last seen driving away from the North Bank Court residence around the time of the alleged incident in a white Mercedes Benz.

Anyone with information, or relevant dashcam or CCTV vision, is urged to contact police.

EARLIER | A man and woman are in custody over a frightening home invasion on the Gold Coast that saw a luxury car stolen and a resident injured.

The home on North Bank Court in Helensvale was broken into just after 6am on Tuesday after three people reportedly threw rocks at the house.

The group stole the keys to a Maserati but was disturbed by a resident before a scuffle broke out.

A man suffered minor injuries to his back and finger during the incident.

Two people fled in the Maserati while a third person escaped in a white Mercedes.

A Porsche at the property was also damaged after the group attempted to break into that vehicle as well.

The Maserati was later spotted in the Eagleby area before being tracked by Polair to Cedar Creek.

Those in the vehicle then stole a silver Kia which was tracked to an address at Kingston where an 18-year-old woman was arrested.

“A short time after that the Maserati was engaged with a tyre deflation device by the police and sometime after that it’s crashed into a tree, I believe in the Bronia Heights area,” Detective Senior Sergeant Mick Corby said.

“A 27-year-old male was taken into custody in the vehicle at that time. Both those people are currently in our custody and assisting us with our inquiries.”

Police are still searching for a third person and the white Mercedes that was seen at the Helensvale address.

Detectives have also confirmed they have recovered a firearm from the Maserati which will now be forensically examined.

EARLIER | A group of thieves are on the run after stealing a luxury car during a brazen break in on the Gold Coast.

The offenders were apparently caught red-handed after getting into the Helensvale property around 6am.

A resident attempted to stop the group but they were assaulted in the process.

The group ended up getting away in a luxury Maserati they stole from the property.

A Porsche that was also parked at the home was also damaged when the group unsuccessfully tried to steal that vehicle as well.

While the group got away in the Maserati, witnesses have also recalled seeing a white Mercedes sedan in the area at the time.

Police are now on the hunt for those responsible.
