A man has been charged on the Gold Coast after allegedly being busted driving a truck containing huge quantities of cannabis up from Melbourne.

Police intercepted the the Hino Pantech truck on K.P McGrath Drive at Elanora yesterday afternoon.

They allegedly found 136 kilos of the drug in Cryovac bags hidden behind palm trees in pots.

The driver, a 42-year-old Mutdapilly man, has been charged with one count of possession of dangerous drugs exceeding schedule three (cannabis).

He’s due to front Southport Magistrates Court today.
