A Gold Coast man has woken up a whole lot richer after taking out last night’s entire $20 million Powerball jackpot.

The man, from Oxenford, held the only division one winning entry across the whole country.

In addition to taking out the top prize, the man’s System 8 PowerHit QuickPick entry also scored division two 19 times, division three 7 times and division four 133 times, bolstering his total windfall to a whopping $20,495,362.76.

He received the shock call from officials confirming the life-changing news while on his way to bed overnight.

“To be honest, I thought it was someone from work calling me with a problem… It’s not a problem at all!” the man said.

“To be honest, I tend not to play Powerball every week, but as soon as the jackpot is over $20 million, I’ll get an entry. I’ve just always thought $20 million was a nice number and now I know it is a very nice number.

“I normally buy an entry at the shops, but I didn’t get the chance today as I left it quite late. It was after 5pm and I almost didn’t grab a ticket at all. I’m glad I did!”

The man said it was by far the biggest win he’s ever had.

“The best win I’ve ever had is $100 and I was pretty chuffed with that. This is something else… I still can’t believe it!” he said.

“I was literally walking into the bedroom to go to bed when you called.”

When asked how his life might change with $20 million in his bank account, the lucky local admitted his working days might be numbered.

“I’d like to retire earlier than planned, and I’d like to set the kids up with a house,” he shared.

“Twenty million dollars! That’s a lot of money. I don’t think I’ll even believe it’s real when it’s in my bank account.

“I just want to wake up in the morning and make sure it’s not a dream.”

The man purchased his winning entry online at The Lott.
