An ex-NSW police officer has been charged with the alleged rape of a teenage girl more than two decades ago.
The 53-year-old former senior constable was arrested at Tweed Heads Police Station around 10am today.
It’s alleged the then 28-year-old officer sexually assaulted the woman, then aged 17, while on duty in 1998.
An investigation was launched in June 2020 by the Professional Standards Command.
He’s been charged with two counts of assault with act of indecency, two counts of sexual intercourse without consent and holder of public office misconduct.
The man was granted conditional bail to appear before Tweed Heads Local Court on Monday, April 24.
