The man was out playing golf at Brendale, north of Brisbane, when he was struck around 2.30pm on Sunday.

It occurred as storms swept across parts of South East Queensland, with warnings issued for Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Redcliffe and the Sunshine Coast.

The man, whose age is not known, was treated at the scene by paramedics before being rushed to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson confirmed he was transported in a critical condition.
