Excitement is building as celebrities prepare to gather in Los Angeles for films biggest night, the Oscars!
The 95th Academy Awards are being hosted by comedian and late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, who hosted the event back in 2017 and 2018.
Security is also being ramped up after last year’s event was overshadowed by actor Will Smith slapping host Chris Rock across the face after he made a joke about his wife.
“We have a whole crisis team, something we’ve never had before,” CEO Bill Kramer said.
“We’ve run many scenarios. So it is our hope we will be prepared for anything.”
Twelve Aussies are gunning for glory this year, including Cate Blanchett who has been nominated for Best Actress for her role in Tar.
But she does face some tough competition, with Michelle Yeoh the frontrunner for the gong for her performance in Everything Everywhere.
Australian designer Catherine Martin is the favourite to take out best costume design for Elvis, while Mandy Walker is up for best cinematography for the Baz Luhrmann biopic.
The trio behind the makeup and hair for the film, including Australia’s Jason Baird, the UK’s Mark Coulier and Italy’s Aldo Signoretti, are also the favourites to claim best makeup and hair.
