International flights are set to return to the Gold Coast within weeks now that Queensland is welcoming back travellers from overseas.
From Saturday, fully-vaccinated people coming from overseas are free to enter Queensland without having to quarantine.
Singapore-based Scoot has wasted no time getting direct flights to the Gold Coast back up and running.
The first Singapore-Gold Coast flight will take off from Singapore on February 14, landing on the Gold Coast the following morning.
The airline has also launched some sweet deals for the restart, with one-way flights starting from just $248.
Scoot will operate three flights between Singapore and the Gold Coast per week which is the same as pre-COVID levels.
That will open up 52,000 seats a year for people to come to the Gold Coast.
Queensland Airports Limited CEO Chris Mills says it will be great to have Scoot back.
“It is fantastic to have a date for Scoot recommencing services, so soon after the Queensland border was reopened to international travellers,” Mr Mills said.
“Many locals will be keen to book their trip, whether it’s to catch up with family and friends or experience everything Singapore has to offer. And the Gold Coast will be a very attractive destination for international visitors.”
Scoot CEO Campbell Wilson said he was delighted Scoot was the first airline to resume international flights to and from the Gold Coast.
“This will allow us to better support pent up demand for a myriad of business and leisure travel needs,” Mr Wilson said.
“Having flown more than 65 million customers with over close to a decade of flights, Australia remains a much-loved travel destination.
“Scoot served close to 130,000 travellers between Singapore and Gold Coast alone in 2019, just before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
