Jaclyn Narracott has made Australian Olympic history, becoming the first person to win a medal in a sliding sport at the Winter Olympics.
The 31-year-old claimed silver in the women’s skeleton final in Beijing, beaten by Germany’s Hannah Neise by just 0.62 seconds.
The Queensland star came into the final events on Saturday night in first place and set a track record with a 1:01.79 at the Yanqing National Sliding Centre.
But 21-year-old Neise immediately fought back, bettering Narracott’s short-lived record by a whopping 0.35 seconds.
That buffer eventually allowed her to take the gold.
Narracott’s silver becomes Australia’s fourth medal at the event, making it Australia’s most successful Winter Games in history.
