Get ready musical lovers – smash hit production Come From Away is set to hit the HOTA stage this July!

Producers Rodney Rigby and Junkyard Dog Productions, together with HOTA, announced on Wednesday the Tony and Olivier award-winning musical will open from 7 July 2022 for a three week limited season.

Come From Away tells the remarkable true story of thousands of stranded passengers and the small town in Newfoundland, Canada that welcomed them all in the wake of the September 11 tragedy.

Producer Rodney Rigby told myGC the show is about community, kindness and human spirit.

“If we look at what’s happened in the last few days with the floods across Queensland and New South Wales, the pandemic these last two years and before that, the bushfires across New south Wales and Victoria, we’ve seen communities come together and work together and that’s the heart of Come From Away. Community and people working together to help each other in times of need,” he said.

HOTA CEO Criena Gehrke said Gold Coast audiences can expect to see a first-class musical.

“It’s an absolute coup! Literally it’s the same production that you would see on the West End and Broadway coming here in it’s Australian production,” she told myGC.

“I just think what it signals for HOTA and the Gold Coast [is] we’ve made it baby! Once we start attracting these sorts of productions, it doesn’t get any better than that.

“You need to sign up to the waitlist for the early release tickets, because let’s face it, this is going to sell out!”

Gold Coasters can sign up to the Come From Away waitlist at comefromaway.com.au/tickets/gold-coast/ with tickets set to go on sale on March 30, 2022.
