Woolworths has changed the name of its popular chicken Kiev products in support of Ukraine following Russia’s invasion.

The supermarket giant has announced it will be replacing the spelling of its chicken ‘Kiev’ with ‘Kyiv’.

“Kyiv is the globally recognised name of the capital, so it’s only appropriate we reflect that in the labelling of the product,” Woolworths said in a statement.

“The name change will be made immediately online, and gradually roll out to our own brand products and signage in-store in the coming weeks.”

The company has also confirmed that 50 cents from every pack of Woolworths’ own brand Chicken Kyiv will be donated to the Australian Red Cross Ukraine Crisis Appeal over the next month.
