A man has been charged with a string of domestic violence offences after he was allegedly found hiding in the roof of a home in Queensland’s Lockyer Valley region.

The 37-year-old was discovered lying in the roof space of a house at Regency Downs on Sunday after a woman reported several “serious domestic violence incidents” to police the day before.

According to police, the 42-year-old informed them of several incidents, including allegations of assault and strangulation.

As a result, detectives worked with the woman to “develop a safety plan” as investigations commenced, with the man located in the roof around 5.30pm yesterday.

“Upon being noticed, the man allegedly got up and ran at police,” Queensland Police said.

He was taken into custody and has since been charged with four counts of contravening a domestic violence order and three counts of choking (domestic violence offence).

The man was also charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm (domestic violence offence) and obstructing police.
