Grab your guitars Gold Coasters!

Locals are being encouraged to register to perform in an epic concert on HOTA’s Outdoor Stage on July 3.

Those Who Rock will bring together up to 200 Gold Coast guitarists of all ages and abilities to rock out on the big stage alongside some Aussie music icons in the ultimate celebration of all things rock and roll.

Bona fide Aussie icons Sarah McLeod (The Superjesus) and Dave Gleeson (The Screaming Jets) are set to perform, with Australian television personality and radio presenter Myf Warhurst to host the event.

“This stage belongs to the people of the Gold Coast, and we are going to have 200 great Gold Coasters rocking out right here in July,” HOTA CEO Criena Gehrke said.

“It’s about representing all the players that exist on the Coast. Maybe your a bedroom musician, maybe you perform in a band, maybe you just play secretly with your parents or your family – we are calling out to you to be involved and play some rock iconic music,” Those Who Rock Creator Joseph O’Farrell (JOF) told myGC.

Workshops kick off on Saturday, May 28 until Sunday, June 26 and will be held at Tugun Community Centre, Robina Community Centre, Carrara Community Centre, Runaway Bay Youth Centre, Helensvale Cultural Centre and Pimpama Community Centre.

Each guitarist group will have their moment in the spotlight, banding together to perform a song learnt throughout the workshop process.

Rock jams include ‘You’re the Voice’ by John Farnham, ‘Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again’ by The Angels, ‘Enter Sandman’ by Metallica, ‘Horses’ by Daryl Braithwaite, ‘I Love Rock’n’Roll’ by Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, and ‘We Will Rock You’ by Queen.
