A group of thieves remain on the run after allegedly fleeing the scene of a nasty stolen car crash on the Gold Coast.

A silver Mercedes sedan lost control and ploughed into a power pole along Southport-Nerang Road in Ashmore around 9.00pm last night.

The impact of the crash brought down the power pole, causing a mass blackout in the suburb for around two hours.

A Gold Coast police spokesperson told myGC the occupants of the vehicle ran from the scene on foot.

No arrests had been made as of this morning, with officers continuing their search for those invovled.

The luxury vehicle was stolen from a home in Arundel on May 12.

Police investigations continue.
