Police are appealing for help to identify a man and woman following a serious assault at a bar in Byron Bay earlier this month.

According to Tweed-Byron Police, a man was punched in the face by another man while on the dance floor of a licenced premises on Jonson Street around 11pm on Friday, June 3.

The 23-year-old man suffered serious facial injuries and was taken to Byron Bay hospital for treatment.

Police say the second man left the scene with a woman.

As investigations into the incident continue, police have released images of a man and woman who they believe may be able to assist with the investigation.

The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in his 50s, of large build, with short hair. He is photographed wearing a black T-shirt, jeans and dark sneakers.

The woman is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged in her 50s, of medium build, with shoulder length blonde hair and was wearing glasses, a patterned shirt and jeans.
