A man has been charged after allegedly threatening people while armed outside a popular Gold Coast tavern.
Police were called to Hope Island Tavern around 2pm on Friday after receiving reports from the public that a man, armed with a hammer, was threatening people passing by in the carpark.
A 27-year-old Labrador man was taken into custody.
Queensland Police have confirmed he has since been charged with one count each of public nuisance and obstruct police.
He’s expected to appear before Southport Magistrates Court on August 25.
EARLIER @ 3pm, August 12 | A man has been arrested after allegedly threatening people while armed out the front of a popular tavern on the northern Gold Coast this afternoon.
Police were called to the car park of Hope Island Tavern just after 2pm, with reports the man was armed with a hammer.
It’s understood the man was harassing people as they walked by.
A Queensland Police spokesperson confirmed the man has been taken into custody.
He remains at the police watch house, with no charges laid yet.
