Natalie Bassingthwaighte is set to rock out on the HOTA Outdoor Stage this October, when she takes on a leading role in Matt Ward Entertainment’s latest musical – Green Day’s American Idiot.
The Tony and Grammy award-winning musical follows the story of three boyhood friends each searching for meaning in a post 9/11 world, and features the music of Green Day throughout including songs ‘Jesus of Suburbia’, ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams’, ‘Know Your Enemy’, ‘Wake Me Up When September Ends’ and ‘21 Guns’.
The former Neighbours star and Rogue Traders lead singer told myGC she cannot wait to tackle the role Saint Jimmy.
“My character is pretty spicy, so I am pretty excited about that and to throw some spanners in the works and just spice it up. It’s going to be a really fun, energetic and crazy show,” she said.
“I think Gold Coast knows how to party and this is going to be one huge big party for sure.”
HOTA CEO Criena Gehrke said locals need to snap up tickets quick as there are only 6 shows.
“I love a bit of rock and roll, and could not be more excited. American Idiot really lends itself to that rock and roll outdoor vibe,” she said.
“We are being joined by the very extraordinarily talented and wonderful Natalie Bassingthwaighte for this season. We are just really excited to welcome her to the Gold Coast.”
