Man slashed across face while walking along Surfers street

A man has been charged after allegedly slashing another man across the face in a frightening attack in Surfers Paradise overnight.

Police say a 30-year-old man was walking along Peninsular Drive just before midnight when he was confronted by a man known to him and slashed across the face with an “unknown implement”.

The victim suffered a large gash across his face and was taken to hospital for treatment, while his alleged attacker, a 24-year-old man, fled the scene.

He was arrested a short time later at a home in Surfers.

He has since been charged with Grievous Bodily Harm and is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today.
