Get excited movie buffs because the Southern Gold Coast will soon be home to a brand new cinema.
Cinebar Licensed Cinemas today announced they are expanding, bringing their unique gold-class experience to Coolangatta’s The Strand complex.
The new theatre, to be known as Cinebar Coolangatta, is set to feature a stylish boutique lounge bar, with state-of-the-art digital projection and sound, and a new kitchen with extensive food and beverage offerings to be delivered to guests in-seats.
Centre manager Kathryn Mills said she saw a great opportunity for the southern end of the coast.
“(Event) Cinemas had called The Strand at Coolangatta home for over 30 years,” said Ms Mills.
“After their departure, we knew our Southern Gold Coast Community needed a quality cinema offering.
“We wanted to make sure we could bring this experience to our community.”
Ms Mills said the aim is for the new theatre complex to become the go-to for locals.
“Cinebar Coolangatta will be the ultimate go-to for Southern Gold Coasters with unique cocktails, meals and more.
“Think dinner, drinks and a movie, all without leaving your seat.
“We are extremely lucky here at The Strand, with the beachfront on our doorstop, boutique local shops, dining and now a state-of-the-art cinema experience.”
Early works for Cinebar have already commenced, with the new cinema expected to open early 2023.
