A southeast Queensland constable has been stood down following accusations of assault, stalking and breaching a Domestic and Family Violence Order.

The 36-year-old male was arrested in Canberra and extradited back to Queensland.

The police officer has been released on bail, after fronting Southport Court today.

The Queensland Police Service has released a statement regarding the accusations.

“In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability,”

“We have undertaken to inform the public when an officer faces serious allegations of misconduct.”

The accused officer has since been suspended from duty with the QPS and will be back in court on December 16.

He faces a string of charges including five counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, one count of stalking and two counts of breaching a Domestic and Family Violence Order.
