It’s an absolute nightmare run on Gold Coast roads this afternoon, with major congestion on the northern and southern end of the city.

The southern area of the coast is in chaos with massive delays on the M1, Gold Coast Highway and local roads.

Southbound M1 is backed up from Robina down to Burleigh, pretty much at a standstill through Reedy Creek.

While northbound is bumper to bumper from well over the border right up to Burleigh.

The Gold Coast Highway is busy through Currumbin, Tugun and Palm Beach with motorists trying to avoid the M1 nighmare.

Reedy Creek Road and West Burleigh Road is also experiencing lengthy delays.

Meanwhile, the northern end of the coast is just as bad with a shocking M1 run from Brisbane.

Motorists are backed up from Springwood all the way to Helensvale, particularly bad through Loganholme and Eagleby.

Other areas to be aware of include the Gold Coast Highway going past the Broadwater Parklands were motorists are experiencing massive congestion.

There are also patchy delays up and down the Gold Coast Highway along the coastline.
