16 people, including 14 children, have been hospitalised following a gas leak at a school in rural Queensland.
Emergency Services rushed to St George Primary School in St George around 9.30am after gas cylinders began leaking near the office.
Paramedics assessed 27 children all up, aged 5 to 14 years old, as well as five adults.
Of those, two adults and 14 children were experiencing symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea and headaches and required hospital treatment.
They were transported to St George Hospital in stable conditions.
Due to the nature of the rural remote environment, QAS arranged for a medical team to attend the school from St George Hospital, which included two doctors and two RN’s.
The gas cylinders were quickly isolated by QFES and local council.
St George is around 500km west of Brisbane, with a population of 3,120 people.
