It’s time to celebrate the Gold Coast’s top athletes as nominations are now open for the highly anticipated 54th annual Sports Star Awards!

The event– held at RACV Royal Pines Resort on Saturday, March 25– promises to be a night to remember, with seven major awards up for grabs, including the highly coveted Daphne Pirie Spirit of Sport Medal.

Sports Gold Coast Chairman Geoff Smith is urging the community to show their support by nominating their favorite athletes and attending the event.

“The Awards gives Gold Coasters a rare opportunity to come together as one to honour its athletes and teams’ achievements and show pride in their collective performance,” he said.

“Apart from the main awards the event also honours our junior volunteers and Gold Coasters who have given a significant part of their life to the development and promotion of Sport in our city.

“This event is quite unique and amazing for a young city of our size and essential if we want to be taken seriously as a major sports city especially leading into the Olympic Games.”

The Gold Coast Sports Star Awards is a collaboration between not-for-profit organisation Sports Gold Coast and Gold Coast Sporting Hall of Fame, which was established in 1999 to protect the city’s ultra-rich sporting heritage.

The night of recognition and celebration takes place on March 25 at the RACV Royal Pines Resort.
