A 5-month-old baby girl is fighting for her life after suffering critical injuries at a Gold Coast home.
Police have launched a major investigation after finding the baby unconscious at a Coomera address on February 1.
She was experiencing breathing difficulties and suffering cardiac arrest.
Paramedics rushed the infant to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition – with no obvious injuries.
Subsequent tests have now confirmed the child has significant internal injuries.
The baby girl remains in a critical condition in hospital.
Detectives from the Gold Coast District Child Protection and Investigation Unit have formed ‘Operation Victor Sector’ to investigate the cause of her injuries.
