It’s no surprise to Gold Coast locals, who wake up every day to friendly faces and an amazing sunny lifestyle… but now the city has been highlighted as one of the most welcoming on earth.

Ten cities across the world were voted in the list by Booking.com for 2023, with the iconic tourism beach destination coming in 10th place.

The Gold Coast is the only Australian city named, alongside some of the most beautiful places in the world.

Topping the list is Polignano a Mare, Italy – while Hualien City, Taiwan and San Sebastian, Spain rounded out the top three.

The Gold Coast’s laid-back lifestyle, friendly locals and sandy shores have contributed to making it one of the best holiday destinations in the world.

Mayor Tom Tate has told Seven News he’s not surprised, and believes the city will be even further up next year.

“The air is clear, in terms of traffic you can get to anywhere within 25 minutes, 60 kilometres of beach and 300 days of sunshine,” Mayor Tate says.

“We’ll keep going along doing our bit and as more of the international travel opens the world will get out and I think the recognition will spread even more.
