Gold Coasters are being encouraged to nominate inspirational locals and community champions for the 2023 Gold Coast Australian of the Year Awards.

Mayor Tom Tate said the awards were a way to celebrate those who are making a difference to the city.

“The City of Gold Coast again wishes to recognise those people that are changing lives and our community for the better,” he said.

“Those whose challenges and triumphs are in their life achievements, those who go above and beyond within their career achievements or those people who are simply champions in one way or another and have an impact on those around them.”

City of Gold Coast are calling for nominations from the public for; Gold Coast Australian of the Year, Gold Coast Senior Australian of the Year, Gold Coast Young Australian of the Year and Gold Coast Local Hero.

Mayor Tom Tate said the awards will help to propel Gold Coasters into the State and National awards programs, coordinated by the National Australia Day Council.

“The Awards are the city’s pre-eminent civic honours and a proven pathway to success at the National Australia Day Council’s Australian of the Year Awards,” he said.

“So, our message is if you appreciate the work someone does in our community and you feel they deserve acknowledgement, do something about it.

“It’s a great chance to reflect, respect and celebrate the outstanding achievements of our fellow Gold Coasters.”
