A man has been charged with 14 offences including torture after a 5-year-old boy was found with critical injuries at a home in Brisbane.
Emergency crews rushed to a property at Wishart around 9.30pm on Saturday, following reports a young boy required medical assistance.
Upon arrival, they found the boy suffering significant injuries.
He was treated at the scene before being rushed to the Queensland Children’s Hospital in a critical condition.
Two other children, a 6-year-old girl and 8-year-old boy, were also located in the garage of the property.
“It will be alleged both children were found with extensive non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Queensland Children’s Hospital for treatment,” Queensland Police said.
The home was declared a crime scene and a 29-year-old man, who police say is known to the children, was taken into custody.
He has since been charged by detectives from the Child Protection and Investigation Unit with seven counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, three counts each of torture and assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed and one count of grievous bodily harm.
The man was refused bail and is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
