The nominees for this year’s British Academy Film Awards have been announced, with Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis biopic scoring an array of nods.

Elvis, filmed entirely on the Gold Coast, is up for nine gongs including best film, sound, editing, costume design, production design, cinematography, makeup and hair, and casting.

Austin Butler is also up for best actor after only just winning the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Drama, Motion Picture for his portrayal of the king of rock’n’roll in the film.

However, it’s Edward Berger’s adaptation of “All Quiet on the Western Front” that leads the nominations.

It’s up for a whopping 14 awards including best director, supporting actor, adapted screenplay, best film not in the English language, and best film.

Elvis’ nominations for the 2023 BAFTA awards come after the biopic also cleaned up at the 12th annual Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards last month.
