Crikey! A major investigation is underway after a crocodile was spotted on North Stradbroke Island.

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS) are on their way to the island just east of Brisbane following the sighting at Myora Springs on Minjerribah (Stradbroke Island).

Rangers received the report of what they believed to be a 3-metre crocodile on Wednesday morning, it’s understood to have been spotted during a kayaking tour.

The Department of Environment and Science confirmed that if a crocodile is found, it will be removed.

“Any crocodile confirmed to be present on Minjerribah, regardless of size, is targeted for removal from the wild,” the media statement reads.

“Rangers will conduct vessel-based searches and use a drone to search the area.”

Crocodile warning signs are being installed while the investigation is underway.
