It’s been another big day at the Magic Millions Yearling Sales on the Gold Coast, with the all-time record price broken for the second day running.

The new record only stood for 24 hours before it was broken once again on Day Three of the sales on Thursday.

A colt by I Am Invincible has now shot to the top of the leaderboard after going under the hammer for a whopping $2.7 million, surpassing Wednesday’s record of $2.6 million.

The colt was one of eight individual lots to sell for seven figure amounts as spirited bidding pushed prices to record levels.

Tom Magnier from Coolmore Stud secured the I Am Invincible colt after a pulsating bidding battle before a large and hushed audience.

“He’s a lovely horse, he’s quality, he’s an athlete and he’s up there with the best horses in the sale,” a delighted Mr Magnier said.

“We’re delighted to get him. Fairness to Segenhoe. They’ve done a great job with their colts.

“There’s loads of quality and if he can do anything like we think he can then he could be a very good horse to have in the stallion barn at Coolmore.”

At the close of Day Three, the sale gross has soared to over $154 million with an outstanding average price of $306,240.

“Five million dollar lots within eight lots of each other,” Magic Millions Managing Director Barry Bowditch said.

“It was fever pitch and that was pretty early in the day, so it set a strong and buoyant tone for the rest of the day in what I believe is a record day’s selling at a Magic Millions yearling sale,” he added.”

Day four of the Magic Millions Yearling Sale will get underway at 10am this morning.
