A southeast Queensland police officer has been stood down and charged after being busted driving allegedly more than three times over the limit.

The 41-year-old male senior constable was caught after being involved in a two-vehicle collision while on duty in Ispwich on Wednesday, January 4.

It happened along Bladon Street, Yamanto just after 8pm, with the officer returning an alleged Blood Alcohol Concentration of 0.177%

The driver and the passenger from the other vehicle were hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries.

A Queensland Police statement confirmed the officer has been stood down from duty.

“In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when an officer faces serious allegations of misconduct.”

He is expected to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on February 1.
