Two men have been charged after they were allegedly caught trying to steal from the Wieambilla property at the centre of last week’s horrific shooting of two police officers and innocent neighbour.

Patrolling police busted the brazen duo trying to make off with two motorbikes in the early hours of Sunday morning.

“It will be alleged the men parked their car near the Wains Road property and travelled on foot through bushland to the house and shed area,” Queensland Police said.

“They have removed two motorcycles and began pushing them to their vehicle”.

The pair didn’t get too far, with police performing patrols as part of crime scene duties locating and arresting them before they managed to get away.

Both men, aged 23 and 25, have been charged with one count each of unlawful trespass, stealing by looting and two counts of supply dangerous drug (cannabis) in unrelated matters.

Police say both men are from the nearby town of Tara.
