The first stage of a $14.8 million make-over to one of the Gold Coast’s most popular community spaces has been unveiled.

The Broadbeach Cultural Precinct now boasts an upgraded auditorium, new dance studio, multipurpose hall and meeting room along with new audio-visual sound and lighting technology.

Formerly known as the Albert Waterways community centre, the build has also expanded the facility with a big boost to recreational space.

Mayor Tom Tate unveiled the precinct today, saying it’s a fantastic improvement for the city.

“Every great city needs great community facilities that allow people to gather both professionally and recreationally close to public transport,” Mayor Tate says.

“The Precinct is providing the community with those creative and social spaces that support a vibrant lifestyle,

“The Cultural Centre has opened right in time for the New Year and we can’t wait to see residents and visitors making the most of the improved spaces and facilities.”

The refurbished Broadbeach Community Space within the precinct will also be officially opened in January.

The facility is now open for inspection and bookings for hire.
