It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and if you love your Christmas tunes you won’t want to miss the Mayor’s Christmas Carols, which is returning to its home base at the Broadwater Parklands this Saturday, 3 December.
Powerhouse Anthony Callea will headline the festive show and will be joined by Tim Campbell, Queenslander Faith Sosene, Frankie and the Holiday Seasons, the Brisbane City Gospel Choir, 1029 Hot Tomato’s Emily Jade O’Keeffe and Carla Tooma, and of course the jolly man himself, Santa.
The free family-friendly event, which is in its 11th year, will also feature a sparkling drone display, a spectacular firework finale, meet and greets with Looney Tunes characters, kids activities, food trucks, and more.

Mayor Tom Tate said he is looking forward to the iconic event.
“When we have the Mayor’s Christmas Carols, I walk around and enjoy the entertainment and as you see the kids singing along with all the Looney Tunes from Movie World and they go up and cuddle Bugs Bunny, that gives me great joy,” he said.
“I know that’s going to be the wonderful memories they’ll have for the rest of their lives.”
Village Roadshow Themeparks general manager of marketing Renee Soutar said the theme park operator is delighted to be sponsoring the carols again this year.
“Village Roadshow Themeparks is such a proud Gold Coast company and this is an amazing Gold Coast event,” she said.
“It’s wonderful to bring a little Movie World magic to the event as well– the carols are so special and it’s such an amazing way for families to connect, so I think it’s about bringing everyone together on the evening.”
Wesley Kids is the chosen charity for this year’s carols and will be onsite raising funds for mental health services for Gold Coast children and their families.
The main show gets underway at 5pm, with kids activities and meet and greets kicking off from 3pm.
