Police are set to step up their patrols across the Gold Coast’s safe night precincts in a bid to combat knife crime.
Officers are today launching Operation Uniform Arminda, a high-visibility four-day operation that will see police use metal-detecting wands in Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach.
The wanding blitz will begin today and continue until Sunday, November 13, with party-goers warned those concealing a weapon will be caught.
The weekend crackdown is the second phase of the operation, with police conducting a similar wanding blitz last month.
Over the four days, 588 people were wanded within the Safe Night Precincts and three knives were located resulting in three arrests.

It comes after the State Government yesterday confirmed the wanding trial will be expanded to all safe night precincts in Queensland.
They will also be used on public transport following a successful trial in Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach.
The initial trial was launched in 2021, following the stabbing death of Gold Coast teenager Jack Beasley in 2019.
