Sea World Cruises has been honoured at the 2022 Queensland Tourism Awards.

After a successful whale watching season, the iconic tourism operator won Gold awards in both the Restaurant and Catering Services category and the Major Tour and Transport category.

General Manager of Sea World Cruises Anthony Ardern said the success has come off the back of a difficult few years.

“In the last financial year we saw more interstate visitors and a few international, however Delta and COVID-19 breakouts really did impact consumer confidence,” he said.

“We are fortunate that Whale Watching activities can be offered predominantly outdoors and that we are in close proximity to two major markets Gold Coast and Brisbane.”

Destination Gold Coast recently revealed the tourism industry has bounced back with an increase of visitor expenditure of 18.1% on the year prior to $4.2 billion.

Hosted by the Queensland Tourism Industry Council, more than 1,000 tourism operators gathered at the Gold Coast Exhibition Centre to celebrate.
