More than 20,000 Suzuki models have been recalled across Australia, due to a manufacturing defect that could cause serious injury or death.
The Department of Transport today issued an urgent recall with a number of models having a problem with the braking system.
A total of 18,144 Swift, Swift Sports, Baleno, Vitara and S-Cross models have been affected.
“The valve between the engine and the vacuum assist brake booster may swell under certain conditions,” the recall reads.
“As a result, an increased brake pedal effort may be required to achieve the expected stopping distance,
“If the braking system does not operate as intended, it could increase the risk of a crash resulting in serious injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.”
A list of affected VIN numbers can be found here.
Meantime, the department has also issued a second recall of 3,466 Suzuki models sold across Queensland between 2016 – 2022.
The models affected have the same issue with the same manufacturing defect on the braking system.
A list of those VIN models impacted can be found here.
Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Suzuki Auto Co. when parts become available and asked to make an appointment to have the work carried out, free of charge.
