As we head into the warmer months, you may have to re-think about chomping into Australia’s favourite summer fruit.

With the cost of living continuing to skyrocket, watermelon has become the latest victim of exorbitant grocery prices.

As spotted on Woolworths Online, a whole watermelon will set you back a whopping $34.

You’ll find it a little cheaper at Coles Online, albeit still through the roof, at $28.

Reduced supply and ongoing bad weather in key farming regions are to blame.

The peak season for watermelon is from December through to May, with hopes prices will drop by then.
