LATEST @ 3.40PM | An 18-year-old man accused of an alleged stolen car rampage across the Gold Coast will remain behind bars.

Tyson Molloy had his case briefly mentioned in court on Tuesday, but didn’t appear because of having COVID-19 symptoms.

The Mudgeeraba man is accused of driving a stolen Honda CRV erratically across several suburbs on Monday, and allegedly hitting a man who was forced to cling to the bonnet.

On Monday, police charged the teen with one count each of enter premises and commit indictable offence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and driving without a licence.

His case will return to court later this month.

EARLIER @ 6.30AM An 18-year-old man has been charged over a wild rampage across parts of the Gold Coast in two stolen cars which saw a man clinging to the bonnet after being hit by one of the vehicles.

A Honda CRV was allegedly stolen from an address in Douma Drive in Mudgeeraba around 2.45pm on Monday.

The Honda was later seen driving erratically through the streets of Mudgeeraba before it allegedly crashed into another vehicle on Mudgeeraba Rd around 3.35pm.

The 43-year-old driver of the other vehicle got out of his car before the 18-year-old allegedly reversed the Honda before driving towards the man at and collecting him on the bonnet.

The Honda sped off with the man still on the bonnet before he was able to convince the driver to release him.

Luckily the man suffered only minor injuries.

Police later received numerous reports about the vehicle driving at speed and erratically through Mudgeeraba, Nerang and Highland Park with the car allegedly driving on the wrong side of the road and hitting a number of wheelie bins.

Officers eventually located the stolen Honda in Regal Court in Highland Park around 6.15pm.

A short time later they noticed a black 2008 BMW X5 acting suspiciously nearby being driven by a 37-year-old Highland Park woman.

Officers searched the vehicle, finding the 18-year-old hidden under blankets in the boot.

The 18-year-old man was arrested without incident and charged with one count each of enter premises and commit indictable offence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and driving without a licence.

He was denied police bail and will appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.

The woman was issued with a traffic infringement notice for having an unrestrained passenger in the vehicle attracting a $1078 fine and loss of four demerit points. She also had her licence suspended for failing to provide saliva for a drug test.

Police are investigating a second stolen vehicle believed to be linked.

A black 2017 Renault Koleos was seen driving erratically with the Honda on Old Coach Road and Marriott Way in Highland park around 5.15pm before being abandoned after a crash.

That vehicle had been stolen from an address in Scarborough St in Southport on Saturday.
