Do you have what it takes to be Australia’s next country music star?
The Groundwater Country Music Festival KIX-Start competition is back for 2022, with budding country musicians encouraged to enter.
The winner will get to play at this year’s festival on the Gold Coast in October, as well as write a song with accomplished country songwriter Phil Barton, record a single at ‘The Music Cellar’ with producer Rod McCormack, enjoy a one on one mentor session with country star Gina Jeffreys, plus many other exciting opportunities.
Festival Director Mark Duckworth said Groundwater has a long history as a launching pad for country artists.
“We had such a fantastic pool of talent involved in last year’s inaugural KIX-Start competition and I for one can’t wait to see what amazing artists will turn up this year,” he said.
“It’s an initiative that is dear to my heart and something that the Groundwater Country Music Festival is all about – providing a platform for new talent.”
Coinciding with the launch of this year’s competition, last year’s KIX-Start inaugural winner Bella MacKenzie has today released her new single, 1,2,3 You and Me. The single is the product of part of her 2021 prize package and was co-written with Bryce Sainty, and produced by multi–Golden Guitar winner Rod McCormack.
