LATEST @ 9.45AM: Two men have been charged in relation to an alleged stabbing in the Gold Coast’s party precinct last night.

It all kicked off when a 37-year-old Ballina man was approached by two men near Cavill Avenue in Surfers Paradise about 10pm.

Police allege an “altercation” occurred, and the man was stabbed with a knife.

He is currently recovering at Gold Coast University Hospital, after suffering stab wounds to his side and cuts to his neck

Police were patrolling the Surfers Paradise Safe Night Precinct at the time and provided first aid to the man before Paramedics arrived.

Two men, a 29-year-old and a 36-year-old, were located nearby and taken into custody.

It is alleged the duo were not known to the victim.

A 36-year-old Riverview man has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed/in company, wounding, possessing a knife in public and possessing dangerous drugs.

He is expected to front Southport Magistrates Court today.

A 29-year-old Macleay Island man has been charged with possessing a knife in public, public nuisance and possessing drug utensils.

He is expected to front Southport Magistrates Court on August 12.

EARLIER @ 6.15AM: A man is fighting for life after an alleged stabbing in the Surfers Paradise party precinct last night.

Paramedics, including Critical Care, rushed to Cavil Avenue just after 10.15pm.

Police, who were patrolling the Safe Night Precinct, provided initial first aid to the man.

The man in his 30’s was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

Meanwhile, two men are currently in police custody in relation to the incident.
