A teenage driver is fighting for life following a horror crash in the Gold Coast hinterland.
It happened in Bonogin around 1am when the car careened off Bonogin Road near Tulipwood Drive and smashed into a power pole.
The driver, a 16-year-old boy, has sustained a serious head injury and is in a critical condition.
The passenger, a 19-year-old woman, has been hospitalised in a stable condition.
The Forensic Crash Unit is now investigating the circumstances of the crash.
Investigators are appealing for witnesses, especially those with dashcam or CCTV vision of the crash or the moments leading up to it, to come forward.
