There has never been a better time to find a job on the Gold Coast with the city’s unemployment rate falling to its lowest level in more than 14 years.
Figures released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics show the Gold Coast’s jobless rate fell from 4.5 per cent in March to just 2.3 per cent in April.
It hasn’t been that low since January 2008.
The 12-month average unemployment level on the Gold Coast has fallen to 4.3 per cent.
The city saw 7,400 jobs added to the economy last month, taking total employment to more than 377,000.
There was a huge jump in full-time positions which were up by 17,900.
However, this was offset by a drop of more than 10,000 part-time jobs.
The number of people officially classified as unemployed fell to 8,700, the lowest level since March 2008.
There was a drop in the number of people looking for work which also contributed to the low unemployment.
The participation rate fell from 70.3 per cent to 69.9 per cent.
Nationally, the unemployment rate across regional Australia fell to 3.9 per cent, its lowest level since 1974.
