Broncos stars Payne Haas and Albert Kelly could learn their punishment as early as today after footage of the pair getting into a physical altercation was released.

The duo were interviewed by the NRL Integrity Unit on Monday and officials are expected to hand down a decision in the next 24 hours.

Brisbane officials have been quick to defend Haas, who can be seen hitting Kelly in the face twice during the altercation, which apparently happened outside a Sydney hotel after their Round 2 win last month.

They say it was Kelly who was heavily intoxicated and instigated the drama, as he had been celebrating his birthday that night.

Haas insists he was not drinking at the time.

Brisbane Broncos coach Kevin Walters has said it’s not good for the club.

“Look obviously extremely disappointed,”  he said.

“Not the kind of vision that you want to see.

“I feel Payne’s probably not the one at fault here, I think Alby is probably more concerned for his actions.”

New South Wales Police have confirmed they are also looking into the incident as Haas is on a good behaviour bond following his arrest in Tweed Heads last year, which saw him charged with intimidating police.
