A MAN has been charged with a string of domestic violence offences, including attempted murder, after allegedly breaking into his former partner’s home.
Police allege the 54-year-old entered the woman’s Kenmore house just before 2.30am on Saturday, where he attempted to “suffocate and strangle” her.
“A violent struggle ensued, in which the woman was able to break free and seek refuge at a neighbouring property,” Queensland Police said.
The woman, aged in her 40s, was taken to hospital in a stable condition with injuries to her neck and hands, while the man was intercepted by police a short distance away.
He has since been charged with attempted murder (domestic violence offence), enter dwelling with intent by break at night (domestic violence offence) and contravention of domestic violence order (aggravated offence).
He was refused police bail and is due to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday, March 14.
