Think you’re having a bad day? Spare a thought for Queensland’s beloved Auslan interpreter Mikey Webb…

The well-known sign language professional has become a viral sensation after copping a rather large amount of owl poo to the head during this morning’s Queensland Government press conference.

Mr Webb was in the middle of interpreting Deputy Premier Steven Miles’ update on the southeast Queensland flood crisis recovery when he suffered the unfortunate encounter with the owl.

“Oh sh*t” he could be heard saying after noticing the owl had relieved itself right on top of his head.

“Oh no, Mikey!” Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said immediately after the incident, before asking anyone if they had a spare tissue.

Thankfully Deputy Commissioner Shane Chelepy came to the rescue, handing Mr Webb a handkerchief to wipe away the mess.

He then took off his suit jacket and wiped his forehead before getting straight back to work like the legend he is.

“The one time you’ll here Auslan Interpreter Mikey Webb speak, mid-presser. Handles this dump of a situation with true professionalism. Just soldiers on,” one person wrote.

“What a pro!! Auslan interpreter Mikey Webb deftly handles unexpected interruption to his role at today’s QLD Govt presser,” commented another.
