A fifth flood-related death has been confirmed in northern New South Wales.

The body of a man was discovered this afternoon at Byrril Creek Road near Terragon, south of Murwillumbah.

It’s believed the victim is in his 40s.

Police say the man is yet to be formally identified.

Officers from Tweed/Byron have established a crime scene at the location.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
