Queenslanders will soon be breathing a little easier, with the state’s mask mandates finally set to come to an end.

From 6.00pm tonight, masks will no longer be required in most indoor settings.

It means we will no longer need to take one with us when heading out for breakfast at our favourite local cafe tomorrow morning or to a bar tonight.

However, they will still be required on public transport and in vulnerable venues including hospitals, aged care facilities, prisons, airports and on planes.

“You won’t need them at work or in school or at the shops,” the Premier said when making the announcement a fortnight ago.

“Staff and patrons won’t be required to wear them at cafes, pubs and restaurants.

“Smiles are back!”

Density limits for weddings, funerals and home gatherings as well as in food courts, hairdressers, gyms and universities have also been scrapped.

Daily COVID-19 press conferences from health officials have ended, with the data now only being published on the Queensland Health website.
